Theophil George "Ted" Greive

Theophil George "Ted" Greive, 84, passed away April 12, 2013.

Ted, the youngest child of Emma and Tay Greive was born on a farm on the Ohio River in Aurora, Indiana - home of the Aurora Farmers Fair which celebrated its 100th anniversary when Ted was 80.

Ted was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Daw at St. John's Lutheran church where he attended a two room school house. Ted's best teacher in his sixteen years of schooling was, Mr. Heinz who taught him for 5th through 8th grades. Ted graduated from Purdue University with a Civil Engineering degree in 1951. He was a member of Beta Sigma Psi a Lutheran fraternity while at Purdue.

Akron was known as the Rubber City when Ted moved to town to work for B.F.
Goodrich. He was in charge of a string plant in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and a warehouse in Miami, Oklahoma. He managed construction of plants in Fort Wayne, Indiana and Guadalajara, Mexico. The Greive family spent more than three years in Koblenz, Germany building B.F. Goodrich Reifen. Even after retirement, Ted enjoyed frequent breakfasts with friends who worked with him there.

Upon arrival in Akron, Ted attended Grace Lutheran Church. He met Joanne, his wife of almost 59 years at Grace. Ted and Joanne had three children. The eldest Clifford, attended Purdue where he met his bride Deborah. They are parents of Joanne of
Huntersville, NC, Amanda is married to Bradford Martin of New Albany, OH and Rebecca, who is marrying Eric Wakefield in August. Ted and Joanne's only daughter Joanne Louise Greive was called to her heavenly home at age 20. Ted and Joanne's youngest son, Timothy, and his wife Karen, live in Mason, OH and have two boys, Michael and Matthew.

The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Ted at Arden Courts, and those that helped him at home, Vonnie, Michael, and the Visiting Nurse Services. Thanks also to all of Ted's friends, nieces, nephews and many relatives for their prayers through the years.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. MONDAY at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3355 Medina Rd. Medina, OH 44256, with Rev. Daniel Haberkost officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call SUNDAY from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., and one hour prior to services Monday at Church.
