Thomas G. Fortner, 61, went to be with the Lord Dec. 11, 2013 after a brief illness.
Born in Beaver Falls, PA on May 27, 1952, he lived in Tallmadge for the past 30 years.
He was a member of The Chapel of Akron and was loved by all who knew him.
Hardworking and a loving provider to his family, Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Dorothy Fortner and sister, Donna Akins. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Anne; children, Kristen (Jeff) Leslie, Tommy, and Tyler; grandchildren, Lauryn and Ben Leslie; sister, Judith; brothers, Douglas (Kim) Fortner and Michael (Sharon) Thompson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ann and Vince Kasparek; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Nancy) Kasparek and Terry (Maggie) Kasparek; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom was a dedicated employee of Cortape, Inc. for the past 30 years. His passion for sports inspired him to coach and umpire several levels of youth sports throughout his life. Always ready to start up a conversation, Tom's charming personality and kind nature won him many friends over the years.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday in the Memorial Chapel of The Chapel, 135 Fir Hill, Akron 44304. The family will welcome guests at 11 a.m. for greetings.
