Thomas C. Moore arrived in Heaven on Sunday, June 19, 2022. He was 79.
Tom was born July 25, 1942, in Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Florence (Fogarty) Moore, and brothers, John Richard “Dick” Moore and Robert William Moore.
He leaves to cherish his memory: beloved wife, Linda Moore of Akron, Ohio; daughters, Beth (Michael) Henry of Severn, Maryland, and Kimberly Moore of Barberton, Ohio; grandchildren, Sarah (Andrew) Kocsis of Baltimore, Maryland, Andrew Henry of Severn, Maryland, Keegan (Natalie Swansiger) Radcliffe of Brunswick, Ohio, and Ryan Radcliffe of Barberton, Ohio; great granddaughter, Daria Swansiger-Radcliffe; and sister, Kathleen (Tim) Cole of York, Maine. In addition, he leaves behind niece, Jennifer (John) Arvay and her children, Cassedy (Dean) Brennan and Nicholas Arvay; nephews, David and John Christopher Cole; cousin, Joanne Fogarty; life-long friend, Phil (Marilyn) Musick; and many other friends and relatives.
Tom was a 1960 graduate of Buchtel High School and a 1965 graduate of the University of Akron. He was employed by the City of Akron Planning Department for 28 years, retiring in 2007. In addition, he worked part-time in Sales for Ohio State Waterproofing for 30 years.
Tom had many wonderful qualities, including a great sense of humor. He had a positive view on life that proved to be a valuable asset. He was hit by a car (in his youth), robbed at gunpoint, had a urostomy, was married to the same woman for over 56 years and had to share the bathroom with two daughters.
Contrary to what he may have told you, he did NOT have Goodyear tread marks on his forehead.
Tom was tireless in providing for his family. Always the protector, our needs were paramount to his own.
He was a great listener, always asking questions to help you sort out your feelings and thoughts. He was curious about everything. His daughters, knowing that he regularly read their notes and mail, learned the valuable skill of hiding them effectively – or so they thought.
He loved his grandchildren with all his heart. The joy and laughter in our house was unbelievable. He continues to be loved by all who knew him.
A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park in Akron, Ohio.
