Timothy John Enright, 73, passed away June 13, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Enright and mother, Ethel Franz Enright, brother, Patrick and sister, Mary. Tim was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife, Jan, of 50 years, daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Scott Nelson, son, Greg Enright, and four precious grandchildren, Jake, Alyssa, Collin and Brady. He is also survived by his brothers, Mike (Bonnie) Enright, Jeff (Denise) Enright, sister, Maureen (George) Locher, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and a very close circle of friends. Tim went to St. Pauls Grade School and graduated from St. Vincent’s High School in 1963. He was the recipient of the Manhood Award was very proud of holding a state record for the most block punts in one high school football game (3) in 1962 for many years, and the University of Akron in 1968 where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and founding member of A.I.S.E.C. (a business student exchange program). In this capacity, he spent the summer of 1967 working for the Wine Monoply in Norway. Tim taught at Canton Glenwood High School and was Assistant to the Dean of the General College while continuing his education earning a Juris Doctorate in 1972 at the University of Akron. He was the Staff Attorney for the Ohio Department of Education, practiced law for many years and retired from First Merit (now Huntington Bank) as a Vice President and Trust Officer in 2006. He was a member of the Akron and Ohio Bar Associations.
Following retirement, Tim and Jan traveled extensively to Ireland (he enjoyed his Irish heritage), England, Europe, Baltic Sea Countries, Russia, the Scandinavian countries, Greece, Turkey, Israel, China, Cuba, the Panama Canal and Caribbean Islands, Canada, and many of the National Parks and states, including Alaska. Taking their first cruise in 2003, Tim and Jan began attending the ships’ art auctions and collected many interesting pieces, purchasing a Disney cell for each of their grandchildren.
Tim volunteered at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School, NEC/Bridgestone/Firestone Golf Tournament, and Habitat for Humanity. He loved fishing, hunting, antiques and collecting “memorabilia”, house sales, Hartville, home-remodeling, gardening, family gatherings, and playing poker. Tim’s family were all car enthusiasts and they spent many years as volunteers for the Classic Car Show on Father’s Day at Stan Hywet. He was always so happy to spend time with his children and grandchildren and was an avid sports enthusiast and fan following their accomplishments in volleyball, football, baseball, basketball, and soccer.
Calling hours will be held WEDNESDAY, June 19 from 4-7PM at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Akron, 44333. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00AM THURSDAY, June 20 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 164 W. Market St. Akron, 44303. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School baseball and volleyball programs ,15 N. Maple St, Akron, Ohio 44303 or Acute Palliative Care Unit at Summa Health Akron Campus, 525 E. Market St., PO Box 2090 Akron, Ohio 44309.
