Vickie L. Williams Cherished and beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend was born June 2, 1943, to the late Wilfred and Opal Sanders in St Louis, MO.
Moving to Akron at the age of two. She graduated East High school in the class of 1961. After graduation, Vickie began working at the historic downtown EdFred’s Music and Records. She later worked at Summit National Insurance Company and Myers Industries. She sparked the first twinkle in Dwight’s eyes while he was working at the Soap Box Derby. Dwight married his “Rascal Rabbit” on March 21, 1964. They brought forth, nourished & cherished two daughters; Michelle and Danielle. Vickie loved the Lord, raising her children, and helping her family. She was creative and curious. She enjoyed singing, reading, baking, hiking, exploring new places, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and quilting. Sharing all of her joys with her girls.
She sang in the Akron Alliance Fellowship church choir, the Porgy and Bess play at EJ Thomas Hall and Kismet at the Goodyear Theatre. She hiked the Summit County Metro Parks Hiking Spree with her family year after year. She used her crocheting, knitting and sewing skills to make several outfits and afghans for her children and family. She also used her quilting talent to make large quilts for her sisters and several art pieces for family and friends through the years.
Vickie joined her husband of 56 years walking heavens streets of gold September 18, 2023. Her beautiful smile, beautiful heart, lovely singing voice and delightful cakes and dishes will be profoundly missed by a family grateful to have had her to love and cherish. Daughters: Michelle (Mark) Pillow and Danielle (Michael) Shaw. Siblings: Yvonne (Melvin) Lewis - both deceased, Wilfred Sanders Jr - deceased, Alece (Jasper) Fambro, Linda (David) Wood, Robbin Sanders. Close Nieces & Nephews: Dionne Sanders, Deneen Henderson, Kristen Sanders, Janai Sanders, Janelle Stallworth, Timayra Hoffman, Jared Hall, Jeremy Hall, Timothy Henderson. Cousins: Jane Hardin, Janice Craig, Harry (Eunice) Craig and Loretta Craig. Friend: Ann Anderson. And many more nieces and nephews in Ohio and Iowa.
The family would like to thank the TCU nurses at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. With a special thank you to nurses Anthony and McKenzie.
She will be laid to rest at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
