Virginia Andrews Carrell, 96, died June 4, 2013.
Known to friends and family as "Bootie," Virginia was a devoted, innovative contributor to the Akron community. In addition to being a member of the Women's Board of Akron City Hospital, she served the Junior League and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. For 34 years Virginia was Director of Activities for Rockynol Retirement Community, bringing events, such as "The Street Dance," "The Petting Zoo," a concert series, and "The Breakfast Club," as well as writing "Rockynol News."
Preceded in death by husband, William Carrell; she is survived by a married daughter, Christina Nicolson; and nephews, Hugh and Andrew Alpeter, Peter Andrews; and niece, Patricia Andrews.
Services will be held on Monday, June 10, at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Paul's Church Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Rockynol Retirement Community, 1150 W. Market St., Akron, Ohio 44313 or St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St., Akron, Ohio 44313. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
