Virginia Diane Fletchtner Kreeger

February 7, 1946 — February 25, 2022

Virginia Diane Flechtner Kreeger came into our lives an Aquarius on February 7, 1946 at Bellevue Hospital and passed away February 25, 2022. The second daughter of Helen Roe Flechtner and Norbert Flechtner of Tiffin, OH, ‘Gigi’ grew up with her older sister Kathy and younger brother Richard in Cortland, OH. ‘Ginny’ attended Kent State University earning a BS in Speech & Language Pathology where she did her student teaching at Jackson Schools, Canton, OH. At KSU she met Leslie Kreeger, architectural student, after her graduation, Les & Ginny married on June 16, 1967. Ginny Kreeger devoted her almost 40-year career to helping children with Speech and Language issues earning 2 post graduate degrees from the University of Akron. Ginny set up Tuslaw Schools first Speech Therapy program. They moved from Kent to Akron, where husband Les started Kreeger & Associates, Architects-Planners, and Ginny started their family of two boys, Eric and Dana, and a girl, Melanie. Ginny and Les built a Solar-heated house in Bath Township where they have lived since 1977. Ginny has volunteered at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens for close to 20 years. Les and Ginny are members of The Bath Church, UCC where Ginny had knitted over 200 Shawls for the Prayer Ministry. She was a Red Hats member and belonged to two book groups. Ginny is preceded in death her mother Helen (2003), her father Norbert (1983), grandmother Alda Mae Kightlinger Roe (1984), grandfather Walter Roe (1968), and her daughter-in-law Kerry Takacs (2010).

Virginia Diane Kreeger is survived by her husband Leslie Kreeger of Bath Township, Akron, her children Richard Eric Kreeger (Cindy Joines-Derrick), Dana Russell Kreeger (Amelia Lustig), Melanie Diane Bagshaw (Graham Bagshaw), brother-in-law Russell Lowell Kreeger (Judith Jones); her grandchildren Julia and Max Kreeger, Natalie Derrick, Grace, Jacob, and Brooke Kreeger, Mason and Jackson Bagshaw; also survived by her siblings Richard (Cyndy) Flechtner and Kathleen Flechtner Carr; nieces and nephews, Brett (Casie) Flechtner, Gretchen Koslowski, and Jennifer Carr.

Visitation will be at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., on Friday, March 4 from 4-5 PM and 6-8 PM. A private family-only burial will be Saturday, March 5 at Moore’s Chapel Cemetery. A celebration of Ginny Kreeger’s life will be scheduled later this Spring at her church.
