Virginia May (Schwartz) Wepfer , 87, Akron, OH, passed away March 12, 2023, in Akron, Ohio.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gordon Wepfer, and their five children, Gretchen Sandridge (Steve), William (Fran), Robert, Mary Ann Watts (Allen Loew), and Brenda Pongracz (Andrew), and grandchildren Colleen and Beryl Sandridge, Alexander and Christopher Pongracz, Joshua Buchta, Elizabeth (Buchta) Russo, Grace Buchta, & Lily Wepfer.
Virginia was born in Buffalo NY to parents DeWitt Schwartz and Mary Talmage Schwartz. She is preceded in death by her sister, Susan (Schwartz) Albert (James) and her grandson, Brandon Watts. She earned her BSN from the University of Michigan and MSN from the University of Akron. She lived for over 30 years in Hiram and Lake Milton and was a dedicated nurse with Nurses House Call and Visiting Nurse Association. She enjoyed attending performing arts events, waterskiing, and travel. She was also an active volunteer the American Red Cross, S.O.P.H.I.A. Ministry, Girl Scouts of America, and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1250 W. Market St. Akron, Ohio 44313. Immediately following the service there will be a gathering for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Red Cross or Girl Scouts of America .
