Virginia R. Stewart passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, following a sudden illness. She was 87.
Born Aug. 22, 1923, Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who adored her family, especially her six great-grandchildren.
She was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. She was a member of the North Coast WAVES, Unit 21. An Ohio Bell retiree, she was a lifetime member of AT&T Pioneers.
Survivors include her children, Dale Mary Stewart, Gail Rod Murphy, and Judi Martin Pirollo; grandchildren, Bob Beth Stewart, Cindy Harold Fisher, Chris Amy Stewart, Chad Murphy, Kevin Kim Murphy, Eric Tia Pirollo, and Brian Jill Claflin Pirollo; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Jacob Fisher, Abigail and Allison Murphy, and Jack and Dominic Pirollo; sister, Anna Minor; and sisters-in-law, Zelda Wayne Blizzard and Sue Williams. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack.
Calling hours are scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Road, Akron, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, with the Rev. Debbie Gibbons officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodland UMC, 444 N. Hawkins Ave., Akron, OH 44313.
