Virginia Louise Swisher

Virginia Louise Swisher, 83, died August 1, 2012.

Born in Morgantown, West Virginia, she graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics and Biological Sciences. She taught home economics in Baird, West Virginia for two years following graduation. In 1956, she became a social worker with the West Virginia Department of Human Services where she held the positions of County Director for Monongalia County in Morgantown, West Virginia and Intake Supervisor in the Fairmont Regional Office. She retired in 1988. Virginia resided in Fairmont, West Virginia for 38 years. She was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Quota Club and the American Cancer Society Board. She moved to Akron, Ohio in 2003 where she was a member of Copley United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by husband, Timothy George; brother, Harold F. Riley; and parents, Richard and Leah Riley. Virginia is survived by daughter, Pamela (Mark C.) Leeson, and grandchildren, Jennifer E. and Christopher R. Leeson.

Service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Road, with Rev. Becki Bowan-Verbridge officiating. Interment at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgan-town, W. Va. Friends may call at the funeral home 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday and one hour before service Sunday.
