Virginia E Wilson

Virginia E. Wilson (nee Osterland), of Bath, OH passed away peacefully on June 20, 2015 at the age of 96.
Born in Cleveland, Virginia was a devoted mother and wife, avid golfer and member of Portage Country Club. She enjoyed traveling in her spare time. Virginia was a 1947 graduate of Cleveland Marshall College of Law and has maintained her license since. Virginia practiced at Osterland and Osterland.
Virginia was deeply involved in the local community and was proudly affiliated with Akron General Medical Center and University of Akron, where she endowed the Virginia E. Wilson Assistive Hearing Device Center and Virginia E. Wilson Fellowship for Doctoral students in Audiology. Other community involvement includes EJ Thomas Hall, Stan Hywet Foundation, Traveler's Aid, Rotary Anns, Curatorial Committee, Junior Board of Florence Crittenton, Akron Children's Hospital, and Children's Concert Society.
Virginia was appointed to the State of Ohio Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Licensure Board in 1992. She was also a member of the First Congregational Church of Akron, Akron Woman's City Club, Eastern Star, Scottish Terrier Club of Northern Ohio, and Audubon Society.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, late president of Roadway Express, J. Robert Wilson; parents, Edward and Phoebe Stone Osterland; and brother, Carl Osterland; she is survived by her three children, Bruce (Chris) Wilson of Garland, Maine, Virginia L. Martin of Akron, Scott (Cheryl) Wilson of Chardon; six grandchildren, Rachel (Jarod) Polburn, Courtney and Megan Wilson, James, Andrew and Virginia A. Martin.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held 2 p.m. THURSDAY in the Historic Chapel at The Bath Church, U.C.C., 3980 W. Bath Rd., with Rev. Mark W. Frey officiating. Private interment at Ira Cemetery. No calling hours will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Audiology and Speech Center: The University of Akron, The Humane Society of Greater Akron or Hospice of V.N.S. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
