Vivienne S Johnstone

Vivienne S. Johnstone, 94, passed away April 30, 2012.

Vivienne was born to Axel and Minora Skadsda-men on May 3, 1917 in Sharon, North Dakota. She graduated from the University of North Dakota and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She met the love of her life while a freshman and married Russell R. Johnstone upon her completion of college. Together they journeyed throughout the world enjoying the many friends they met during their travels.

Vivienne was a generous and thoughtful person who fiercely loved her husband and children. She was often referred to as a "very classy lady." She will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to have her in their lives. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for nearly 60 years. She served her church as a deaconess and in other capacities. She dearly loved her Lord and her church.

Vivienne was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Russell R. Johnstone; her dear sister, Ardis Gilhuly; her devoted son, Robert C. Johnstone; and her granddaughter, Allyson R. Peterson-Bailey. She is survived by her daughter, Ann J. Peterson; her niece, Ardis P. Grant; her grandson, William R. Peterson; and her great-grandchildren, Jason S. Mise, Ava B. Bailey and Stacie L. Hodge. In addition, she was blessed to have many dear friends and an exceptional friend and caretaker, whom she loved, Delores A. Davis. She also held a special fondness for her friend and former minister, Clifford Hayes.

Vivienne's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hospice of VNS on Ridgewood Road and Valeria Somfai, who cared for her.

Service will be held 11 a.m. FRIDAY at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Derek Starr Redwine officiating. Private interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., THURSDAY from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1250 W. Exchange St., Akron, OH 44313-7695.
