Dr. Walter Yankovich, 93, born July 30, 1925, passed away January 17, 2019.
"Walt" was a loving husband to Mildred, for 60 years before her passing in 2011. Walt was an amazing father to Renee Yankovich, Akron, Rhonda Miko, of Sagamore Hills. He was a wonderful grandfather to Erin, Shawn, Kyle and Leah Miko, all in the Cleveland area. Walter was the devoted son of Sam and Helen (Kolesar). Walt had five siblings. Survived by brother, Mark (Sally) and deceased, Melvin (Eleanor), Pauline Richards (Don), Tom (Gloria, surviving spouse), Natalie Stemple (Leonard, surviving spouse). He also was a kind uncle to Lexia, Keith, Jeff, Adele, Michelle, Tom and Gale Urda (Lin).
Walt was born in Akron, then moved to Paris Township with his family, where he graduated from Paris High School. He was a WWII Army Veteran, stationed in San Antonio. Walter was a retired dentist who loved his career treating many patients for over two decades in Kent, Ohio. A graduate of Kent State and Western Reserve University. He loved being active, enjoying golf, fishing, bicycling, playing bridge, winning at blackjack and many other card games. Walt had a strong faith, he was a dog lover and a generous man to many charities.
Honoring Walter's request, there will no calling hours. A private graveside service and inurnment will be held at Standing Rock in Kent at a later date. Contributions can be made to a charity of your choice in Walter's honor. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
