Wayne M. Vetter , age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024. His soul has joined his wife Peggy, his love of her in eternity.
He was born and raised in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He was drafted to the Military Service in 1956 and served with the 1st Armored Division in Fort Hood, Texas and Fort Knox and then served in the Korean War with the 140th Tank Battalion until April 1953. Wayne graduated from The University of Wisconsin in June 1956 with a BBA in Industrial Management. He accepted a position with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio where he met his future wife, Peggy. They were married on March 14, 1957, and were married for 52 years until her death on March 27, 2009.
He was employed within the private and public sector including Latex, Fleming Bus Company, Management Consulting Group, and Summit County government including Court Bailiff, Clerk of Courts, Auditor and Executive areas and retired on 8-31-2007.
During his lifetime, he was active in the Boys Scout of America, Little League Baseball, Early Jazz Club, and volunteered at the General Medical Center, Firestone VFW, Post 3383, and KWVA Chapter 138. He enjoyed traditional Dixieland Music, Dave Brubeck and classical music.
He is survived by his sons: Dr. Thomas Vetter (Imelda) and James Vetter (Diana); grandchildren Liana (Arjun) Rao, Brittany (Luis) Vetter-Perez, Marissa (Nick) Stoffregen, Tiffany (Seth) White and Matthew Vetter. Great grandchildren included Sahana and Ansel Rao, Luna and Enzo Perez and Luca and Margaux Stoffregen.

Friends may call THURSDAY, January 18, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333. Funeral service will take place FRIDAY, January 19, at 12:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will take place immediately following at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd. Rittman, Ohio.
Service will be conducted by Rev. Jack Kozak.
