William "Bill" Bock

April 15, 1944 — March 4, 2017

A. William "Bill" Bock, 72, of Akron, Ohio passed away suddenly March 4th, 2017.

A beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and grandfather, Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Florence, and son, Jimmy Bock, all of Akron. Bill is survived by wife of 41 years, Barbara; sons, Dan Bock (Kate) of Napa, CA, Jack Wright (Valerie) of Fairlawn, David Wright of Hudson; and daughter, Mary Lohr of Akron. His 10 grandchildren are Braden Wright, Victoria Clair, Morgan Bock, Mitchell Bock, Serena Wright, Natalie Wright, Jeremy Lohr, Joshua Wright, Alison Lohr, and Jackson Bock. He is also survived by sister, Mary-Anne Bock (Richard Nelson); sister-in-law, Shirley Huffman; and many nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Buchtel High School class of '62, Bill had a lifelong love of music. He was the saxophone player and founding member of Second Effort, a wedding band during the 70's, 80's and 90's, with Barbara as the lead singer. He was a Banker with Falls Savings Bank and later invested in real estate. He had a great love for dogs and rescued many during his lifetime. Bill had many hobbies. He built and flew model airplanes for many years. He loved playing golf with friends and family members - in fact he recently had a hole-in-one. He had a zest for cooking and experimenting with new recipes and enjoyed trying them out with friends and family, the more the merrier in Bill's book. He often opened a nice bottle of wine, frequently a Pinot Noir, to share and experience with those he loved. But Bill's greatest accomplishment came naturally to him - Bill was an awesome Grandpa and absolutely adored his grandchildren. They brought him immense joy and pride.
