William G. Bill Hulbert
William G. Bill Hulbert, 85, died August 20, 2008, after a bout with cancer.
Born November 25, 1922 in Somerton, Ohio, Mr. Hulbert graduated Geneva High School in 1940, and Case Institute of Technology in 1949 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, and retired as vice president of the East Ohio Gas Company. Bill played a vital role with Summa Health System in multiple capacities. He was involved in many community organizations including, EPIC, Rotary Club of Akron, University of Akron, Bluecoats of Akron, YMCA, Salvation Army, ARDB, and Goodwill Industries. In 1986, he received the Polsky Humanitarian Award.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean; son, Bill Sharon of Yorba Linda, Calif.; daughter, Devon of Akron; grandchildren, Michael, Scott, and Jennifer; brother, Gene; sisters, Betty Zaranec, Mary Wharram, and Marjorie Roberts. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Christ United Methodist Church, 380 Mineola Ave., Akron, with Rev. Benjamin J. Black, III officiating. Friends may call Saturday 4 to 8 p.m. at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd, Akron.
