William J. Krill, age 71, of Akron, Ohio, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 28, 2022, after courageously battling a long illness.
Bill grew up in Akron and graduated from Copley High School in 1970. He worked for his father’s business, the Diamond Foundry, in downtown Akron and spent time as a printer at Akron City Hospital. He joined the U.S. Army in 1970, proudly serving his country for 21 years. He was a Gulf War veteran and served overseas in Operation Desert Storm. He retired as a Sergeant First Class, Rank E7 and a member of the 447th Military Police Unit based out of Wooster. Additionally, he served 25 years as a Summit County Deputy Sheriff from 1986 until 2011, during which time he was awarded Deputy of the Year.
Bill enjoyed hiking and bicycling in the Metroparks, weekends at Tappan Lake, taking road trips to his grandparent’s farm in Caldwell and annual family get togethers at Sand Lake in Michigan. He loved participating in family game nights, enjoyed good conversation, and making new friends.
Service to others was the core of who Bill was as a person. He’d give you the shirt off his back, never passing the opportunity to provide a favor; he was reliable, dependable, and “rock solid.” You could count on him, and his character was of utmost importance, the center of his very being. He was patriotic, proud, and loved his family more than anything in this world. He was a role model to many and will be greatly missed.
Preceding him in death were his parents, William J. and Nancy E. Krill. He is survived by his children, Jennifer and Melanie; Grandchildren, Trenton, Alexis, and Nikolaus; Siblings Dennis (Darlene), Michael, Joan, Thomas, Donald, and Ann (Chad); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
