William H. Rogers

William H. Rogers of Bath, born October 16,1925 in Tulsa, OK, died August 11, 2013 at age 87.

Bill had been an Akron resident since 1970. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, and served as a coach and administrator in the Copley-Fairlawn Athletic Association for 35 years. Bill was employed by Firestone Tire & Rubber Company for 40 years in the sales accounting department.

He lived most of his childhood years in Peoria, IL and moved with his parents to Des Moines, lA, where he graduated from high school and Drake University.

Preceded in death by his wife, Lois in 1985 and his parents, Kenneth and Lucille; he is survived by his children, William B. Rogers (Kathy), Donald K. Rogers (Lisa), and Carol J. Dangel (Michael); grandchildren, Kristofer Johnsen, James Johnsen, Kevin Rogers, Kyle Rogers, Grant Rogers, Mackenzie Dangel and Melissa Dangel; and great granddaughter, Kyla Deible. He is also survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Robert and Jeanne Vernier and five nephews and their families. An avid dog lover, Bill is survived by his faithful companion, Sandy.

Visitation will be held at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Wednesday, August 14, from 5-8 pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 15, at 1 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1250 W. Exchange St., with Rev. Amy Starr Redwine officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park with military rites by VFW Post 7971. Memorial donations may be made to the Copley-Fairlawn Athletic Association, 525 N. Revere Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
