William E. Schultz, 94, passed away at home on May 19, 2010.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he lived most of his life in Akron. Bill retired in 2001 from the Summit County Prosecutor's Office after 37 years of service where he handled some of the most difficult legal issues in the Civil Division and was regarded by his peers as an authority on government issues. He was known as an intellectual with a dry wit. Bill was a recipient of The Clifford Skeen Lifetime Achievement Award in Public Service. He served in World War II as a Captain and was awarded service and victory medals. He was a member of St. Hilary Catholic Church and the Akron Area Bar Association for 50+ years.
Preceded in death by his brother, Paul L. Schultz, sisters, Marian Mullholland, Helen Schultz, Sister Catherine and Mary of St. Gerard FMM, he is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marie L. Schultz; daughter, Lori Marie Schultz and sister, Teresa Pasakarnis.
Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 W. Market St., Fairlawn, with Fr. Steven Brunovsky officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron.
