William Semanco, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2017.
Bill was born in Lyndora, PA on February 17, 1925. Bill proudly served in the US Army Air Force as a ball turret gunner on a B-24 Liberator named Miss Your Lovin'. He completed 25 missions over Germany and Italy. Bill graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1952. It was there that he met the love of his life, Helen Ruth Hoffman, on the tennis courts. He fondly nicknamed her "Kit" and she still goes by that name today. Bill worked his entire career with Westinghouse as an office manager. After retiring in 1986, he spent much of his time working in his large yard in Bath, playing golf, traveling the country with Kit and enjoying his treasured family.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Semanco; brothers, Mike and John Jr. and sister, Anne Wolensky; Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kit; daughters, Gail (Phil) Danford and Kathy (Dennis) DuCharme; grandchildren, Steven (Emily) and Emma Danford, Kimberly (Tim) Wechter, Scott (Abigail) DuCharme; great-grandchildren, Claire and Marielle; sister, Mary Gornik; and special friend, Debbie Horn, who served as his guardian on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
There will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place and interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery later in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Air Force Aid Society, 241 18th Street South, Suite 202, Arlington, VA 22202. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
