William Kenneth "Kenny" Steele, 90, joined our Heavenly Father peacefully on Saturday, October 1, 2016.
He served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Signalman Third Class on the USS LSM 252 and USS LSM 392. He was on board one of the first ships to enter Japan after the war ended. He was awarded the Point System, Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and received an Honorable Discharge after his duties. Kenny retired from Western Electric in 1983 after 33 years of service. In recent years, he treasured the time spent with his family. He enjoyed camping and walking trails, especially on the Blue Ridge Parkway. In the past, he enjoyed sailing and ice skating with his daughters on Mogadore Reservoir.
Kenny is survived by two daughters, Karen Ann Sandorf (Matt) and Dale Lynn Comyns (Jay); and three loving grandchildren, Shannon Love, Robert (Bobby) Love II, and Michael Comyns; and two great grandchildren, Nicholas and Taylor. He is preceded in death by wife, Marilyn Ann (Barnett) Steele; and daughter, Deborah Ann Steele; brother, Burton Steele; and their parents, Joseph Harold Steele and Helen (Bovaird) Steele.
A private family memorial service will be held.
