William F. Strough
William F. Strough, 92, of Fairlawn, Ohio passed away April 3, 2017.
Born in Akron, Ohio on October 4, 1924, the son of the late Harold M. and Helen Strough, he was a graduate of Buchtel High School and enlisted in the United States Army in 1942. He served in the occupation of Japan and later fought in the Korean War, serving as a First Lieutenant. He retired from the US Army Reserves in 1984, having achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
In 1945, while stationed at Camp Robinson in Little Rock, Arkansas, Bill met and married Loree Tucker. After returning from World War II, he attended Western Reserve University. He graduated with a degree in Architecture in 1950. After college, he joined the family business, The H. M. Strough Co. and continued with the company until retirement. Bill was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon and Elder for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Loree "Jean" Strough. He is survived by their children, William M. Strough, Karla S. Schott (John), and Melinda J. Strough. Papa was a loving grandfather to Lauren Schott Pearson (Chris), Alexandra Schott Wright (Andy), Lindsey Strough, Chelsea Strough; great grandchildren, Ava and Johnny Pearson and many loving family members.
A service will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park Monday April 10, 2017 at 1:00 PM, Rev. Jonathan Hauerwas officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Procession will depart from the Billow Fairlawn Chapel at 12:45 PM. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
