William Henry Zufall II , 84, of Bath, Ohio peacefully passed to be with the Lord surrounded by family on Friday, April 21, 2023.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia (Eaton) and his sons Jeff and William III (Jessie), daughters Kara (Danny) and Kathy (Mike), and grandkids; Carter and Colin Hall; Vanessa, Billy IV and Owen Zufall; and Alexandria and Gavin Jansen. He will be greatly missed and very much loved by his sisters, Margaret Zufall Brewster (Joe) and the late Linda Zufall Bilstein (Roger) and Karen Zufall Lahey (Denny) and all his nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Billows Funeral Home in Fairlawn, OH on Wednesday, April 26th 2023 from 5pm - 8pm and Thursday, April 27th 2023 from 10am - 11am with service following. Burial will be held immediately after at Moore's Chapel Cemetery in Bath (Address: 1605 N Hametown Rd, Akron, OH 44333).

Let our hearts lovingly open tribute to the memory of William H. Zufall II b. April 28, 1938 - d. April 21, 2023. How Bill spent each day truly mattered and created a long life of memories, loved ones, blessings and friends that we celebrate today.
Bill was born in Carlisle, PA and moved to Wooster, OH in 1941. Anyone who knows of Bill has heard of his passion for his hometown of Wooster, where he spent a loving childhood with his mother Mary, a homemaker, and his father, the original William, an accountant.
His parents deeply loved him, he was gifted academically, and spent childhood days outside in idyllic Wooster going to the creek with his best friends or playing sports, little Billy would also be known for being a bit rambunctious and independent. Tales were told of him walking from his home to his dad's office in downtown Wooster at only 4 years old, without telling anyone, or locking the bathroom until it overflowed because he didn't want to take a bath. These antics could only be balanced by the gentle and guiding hearts of his three sisters, Linda, Karen, and Margy of whom he adored, was deeply grateful for and admired throughout his whole life.
Always a competitive and loyal man, teenage Bill went on to excel in sports, which landed him proudly in the Wooster Hall of Fame. He once shot a -6 under par, 67 in a high school match at Wooster Country Club. Most impressively, he finished in the top 10 at a summer golf tournament beating Jack Nicklaus. He earned 7 varsity letters and became Wooster's #1 golfer for three years. He placed 8th in the state tournament in 1955. His additional athletic achievements did not stop there. He also excelled at football and basketball before entering the College of Wooster as a 'Fighting Scot' to play basketball as a freshmen and as a four -year starter on the golf team.
He fell very ill one season and was bedridden for a semester, which in turn, created a love of numbers that would later in life serve him well in his career. He would lay in bed and count numbers to pass the time until he became healthier. Life soon got very interesting as he decided to drive to the West Coast and live in Hollywood so he could earn money to pay for the remainder of his college. He drove for a laundry service, sold door-to-door Watkins products, and was offered a job to double for actor, Pat Boone. He also claims to have met Marilyn Monroe and wishes he had talked to her more to help her from her troubled future. Bill was a man who would and did for others. He would make sure you knew he would do anything to help you get through tough times.
Hollywood may have wanted him but Wooster called him back. He came back to finish college and earned a degree in Economics. The big companies wanted him including IBM and Merrill Lynch amongst others. Thus began his people and numbers loving financial career when he chose Merrill Lynch. During that time Bill also became a loving father to his children, Jeff and Kara. He loved spending time camping, fishing and boating with his kids. He was also offered a position on the New York Stock Exchange floor as a broker in NYC. It was tempting and a great opportunity but he turned it down and, as told by him, with no regrets. He wanted what he felt best for his kids, to keep his children in the Midwest serene and friendly town of Wooster.
Later Bill would be promoted and land in downtown Akron where he continued a career doing what he loved most for over 60 years! Unbeknownst to him, at that same time, even more love would walk through the doors of Merrill Lynch. Bill met his wife Patti in the late 60's. They had a love that only storybooks are made of and stories of their love could entertain you with anytime! They eloped to a little chapel in Las Vegas, Dec. 1970. 53 years of marriage has endured life's ups and downs and a great many twists and turns. So many fabulous first class anniversaries and yet their favorite was their 50th spent during COVID, only the two of them at home with a nice dinner celebrating the years. Bill was a husband who loved living life, always had an adventure planned, wanted the best and always provided. Together, Patti and Bill enjoyed hanging out with friends and clients from Merrill Lynch, going on Presidents Club trips, spending time at Fairlawn Country Club, attending Faith Lutheran Church and being actively involved as a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner.
Bill and Patti were blessed with their children William III and Kathy. Raising kids, sports, coaching, and cheering on favorite teams, kept the whole family busy. Many friends became extended family through school and sports, particularly the Internationals soccer club. Weekends became meant for tournament travel up until the summer, which was also for boating.
Always having a boat, he loved being Captain Bill, navigating the Lake Erie shores and utilizing his on point geography skills. His last boat was aptly nicknamed 'Dream Lover' after one of Bill and Patti's favorite songs. Bill stayed active by continuing to golf and playing club baseball and soccer. He says he was in the best shape of his life at 40 years old. This was good because of the amount of standing and yelling he did as wanted to contribute as a season ticket holder for the Cleveland CAVS and the Indians teams.
He so loved all of his extended family including brothers-in-law Denny Lahey, Roger Bilstein, Joe Brewster, and John Jakuszewski, sister-in-law Joane Perdue and late husband Harlan, sons-in-law Danny Hall and Mike Jansen, daughter in law Jessie Zufall and nieces and nephews.
In Bill's golden years, he and son Bill III had the blessing of working together and creating a legacy at Zufall Financial Services. They shared the same passion for helping clients, working hard and following the stock market daily. Bill was hardworking, dedicated, strong, smart, and loyal.
Some favorite pastimes were playing cards with the guys, enjoying a game of RISK, listening to Elvis songs or sports radio, talking politics, reading National Geographic and researching his German heritage. He loved going for country drives to Wayne County with Patti and best friend, his German Shepherd, Duke.
However, nothing could bring more joy and smiles to him than time with his grandkids. All holding a special place in his heart including Colin and Carter Hall; Vanessa, Billy IV, and Owen Zufall; and Alexandria and Gavin Jansen. He enjoyed any conversation with them, simply being together, was their #1 fan giving coaching tips at sporting events, was lovingly called Pa and always good for a trip to get ice cream at River Styx.
In the final days before passing, Bill had family, his faithful dog Duke, and a wonderful caretaker Saleema, who gave him peace of mind and support. He was blessed to be home and it was holding Patti's hand where he felt great comfort, holding tight and fighting all the way until his last moment like a true Fighting Scot would.
These are only a few of the memories that filled up Bill's lifetime. As time is never enough, neither is the space to write all who have impacted Bill's life. Although you may have not been named, when you read this please know you meant something special to Bill and we are truly grateful for having you in our lives.
Our heavenly father has now welcomed him home. In honor of Bill Zufall, we pray for his comfort and peace. He will live on in our hearts and minds and will be dearly missed until we meet again.
