Wilma Virginia Cheslock, 100, of Pinehurst, NC passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 at Pinehurst Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Cheslock was born on March 3, 1917, in Akron, Ohio, to the late James and Lottie Wood Wilkinson. Wilma spent many years volunteering for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association in Akron. She was honored by the AHA, Summit County Division, with its National Time, Feeling and Focus Award, which was endorsed by the Ohio House of Representatives, for her dedication. When she moved to Pinehurst, NC 20 years ago, she continued volunteering at Quail Haven Village where she lived for many years. Mrs. Cheslock liked to travel and did so extensively in Europe. She also enjoyed needlework, reading and word puzzles. Family and friends will miss her thoughtfulness and lovely smile.
Preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Stanley; sisters, Hazel Fouse of Decatur, IL and Mildred Ewart of Akron; Wilma's survivors include daughters, Martha (William) Timmons of Pinehurst, NC; Virginia (Marc) Braun of Bath, OH; two grandsons, Brad Braun of Las Vegas, NV and David Braun of Kent, OH; three great grandchildren, Quinn, Kensie and Max Braun; a sister, Mary Swartzlander of Akron, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. WEDNESDAY, August 15th at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Rev. Jon Hauerwas officiating. Inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
