Wilma Mae Munsey, 81, went home to be with her husband and Lord on May 10, 2014. Born in Riffle, West Virginia on April 24, 1933, to Okie Lee and Lelah Shaver, Wilma was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and was employed by Consolidated Freightways for 26 years, retiring on November 4, 1987.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Ted, and visiting their children and grandchildren. After her husband Ted's death on November 1, 1996, she enjoyed working in her yard and beautiful flower gardens. She looked forward to her annual vacations with her sister, Wanda, and son, Richard.
Preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 43 years, Ted R. Munsey; and brother-in-law, Alvin Wood; she is survived by sons, Richard W. (Teri), Rick R. (Amy) of Ashburn Va., Ronald L. (Traci) of Houston, Tx.; grandchildren, Tim, Melissa, Michael, Jackson, and Olivia; and great grandchildren, Kaylan and Mackenzie; sisters, Wanda Bailey of Cheverly, Md., Wavalene Wood of Beckley, W. VA, Marcene (Eddie) Cook of Spring Hill, FL, Zelma (Bob) Knippenberg of Port St. Lucie, Florida; brother, William Shaver of Exchange, W. VA.; and many nieces and nephews.
Wilma had a strong love for the Lord, her husband, sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family.
The family would like to thank Leisha Burrows, Debbie Campbell, Michael A. Clar, and Randy Reuille for their many acts of kindness which allowed our mother to continue to live in her house after the death of our father. The family would also like to thank Dr. Patricia A. Kitson, Dr. Anthony Muni, Dr. Gary B. Williams, Dr. Joseph Zarconi, and the many other doctors and nursing staff of ICU, 5W, and 6W at Summa Health System for their excellent care.
At the request of our mother, there will be no calling hours. Private interment at West Richfield Cemetery with Reverend Robert A. Denton officiating. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Ted R. Munsey Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 121, Bath, Ohio 44210. This scholarship was set up by Wilma and her son, Richard to honor Mr. Munsey's twenty-five years of volunteer service with the Revere High School athletic programs.
