Winifred "Wini Franklin" Madden
Winifred "Wini Franklin" Madden passed away June 29, 2012 after many battles with health problems.
Born in 1922 in Dunkirk, NY, she moved to Akron in 1941 where she lived for the remainder of her life. She retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1985 where she worked in their legal department. Wini loved to cook and was always preparing her favorite dishes as well as experimenting with new recipes from cookbooks, food network, or the internet. She was an avid bridge player and played in several clubs until the end. She loved to read and always had a crossword puzzle on the table she was working on. She volunteered at St. Thomas Hospital for many years and was President of the Woman's Board there for two terms.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, James Franklin and Charles Madden; also many close friends over the years. She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Gary) Larson of Lexington, MA; son, Jim Franklin of Akron, OH; grandson, Kris (Dona) Larson of Bloomfield, NY; granddaughter, Lisa (John) Clough of Lexington, MA; great grandchildren, Anna and Sam Clough, whom she loved very much; and her cats, Max, Sam, Harry and Buster.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no calling hours per her request. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
