Yvonne K. Roeser

Yvonne K. Roeser, 91 years old, passed away after a brief illness on March 27, 2013. She had resided at Rockynol Retirement Community for the past seven years.

Yvonne was born in St. Mary's, Ohio on June 14, 1921. She married Richard B. Roeser in 1944. They continued to live in St. Mary's until 1960 when Richard was transferred to the North Chicago Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. plant and then onto the Goodyear plant in Akron, Ohio in 1965, where they have lived since.

Yvonne was a graduate of The University of Akron with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education, being a voice major and piano minor. She was the Choir Director at Grace Lutheran Church, Akron, Ohio for eight years and the song leader at the Rockynol Chapel. She sang in the Akron University Chorus and the Akron Symphony Choir.

This active lady was a long-standing member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and was a deaconess. She was also a member of the Akron Woman's City Club for 23 years. Girl Scouting and Project Learn received many hours of her volunteer time. Bridge, golf, tennis and needlework were favorite life-long activities of Yvonne.

Her husband of 61 years, Richard B. Roeser, preceded her in death in 2004. Her survivors are four children, Richard Booker, Jr., Douglas James, Timothy Allen (Cheryl) and Christine Lee Brannan (Fred). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. SATURDAY, March 30th, in the Myrna and Hugh Porter Chapel at Rockynol Retirement Community, 1150 W. Market St., with Chaplain Diane Walker officiating and assisted by her son, the Rev. Timothy Roeser. Calling hours will be held in the chapel one hour prior to the service. A luncheon reception will follow the service in the Carrel Center at Rockynol. Private interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Additional parking will be found off of Exchange Street at the entrance to Rockynol Ledges.

For the past 25 years, Yvonne has provided scholarships for children to attend Hametown Christian Academy. Therefore, a scholarship fund has been created to honor her and it is requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hametown Christian Academy, Yvonne K. Roeser Scholarship Fund, 4774 S.
