Zada F. Southers nee King, 85, died at home June 6, 2011.
Born in Golden, Mississippi, she lived in the Akron area until moving to Bath in 1968. She retired in 1991 from human resources at B.F. Goodrich Co. where she was responsible for hiring the professional staff. Zada had many varied interests. For many years, she enjoyed square/round dancing with Burlen. She loved to golf, bowl, and cook. Zada rarely missed an opportunity to listen to Lawrence Welk and she relished the challenge of Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and weekly crossword puzzles. Zada was a bright, energetic, independent woman who was a role model for many.
Preceded in death Feb. 6th by Burlen, her loving husband of 66 years, she is survived by her sister, Dorothy Buttner of Texas; niece, Barbara Don Hershey of Medina; many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from all over the United States; and faithful companion, Bailey.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors and staff of Akron General Medical Center, 5200A and the Visiting Nurse Service, Home Hospice Team for their compassionate care.
Following her wishes, a graveside service will be held 10 a.m. FRIDAY at Moore's Chapel Cemetery please meet at the cemetery. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. FRIDAY at The Bath United Church of Christ, 3980 W. Bath Rd., with Rev. Mark W. Frey and Rev. Maureen A. Webber officiating.
