Zimri Christian Oseland Jr

February 11, 1927 — November 6, 2009

Zim, 82, passed away suddenly November 6, 2009.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1927, to the late Zimri and Erma Oseland. He and his parents moved to Akron, and he lived the rest of his life in the Akron area. He attended King School and the Western Reserve Academy in Hudson. He graduated from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME, with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and was a member of Zeta Psi fraternity. Zim enlisted in the Naval Reserve in 1945, where he served during World War II. After the Navy, he worked at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 34 years. Zim served on the Advisory Committee for the Bath Trustees for 11 years. He was a member of the SAR Lafayette Chapter, Stan Hywet Foundation, and Fairlawn Country Club. He attended Bath United Church of Christ. Zim enjoyed his family, cars, trains, and traveling to Hawaii, Colorado, and Maine.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Patti; daughter, Lani Murphy Jeff; son, Z Chris Oseland III Debra; and grandchildren, Dylan, Shelby, and Robyn Murphy, and Zimmy Oseland. He will always be remembered as a gentle, kind man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday at the Bath Church UCC, 3980 W. Bath Rd., Akron, with Rev. Mark W. Frey officiating. Private burial at Rose Hill Burial Park where military honors will be conducted by Firestone VFW Post 3383 and the U.S. Navy. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Haven of Rest, the Salvation Army or Bath Church UCC.
