John Wayne Mallo

John Wayne Mallo passed away at the age of 84 on Monday, August 29, 2022. He was born and raised in Akron, Ohio and was a graduate of Kent State University. In 1967, John was one of the original licensees of “Budget Rent a Car” nationally. Through the years he has owned locations in Akron and Columbus, OH, Tucson, AZ and still remains in Las Vegas, NV. John owned several car dealerships, as well. He began the Splash Car Wash Company in 2015, which is currently operating in the Fairlawn and Akron areas.  He was an avid fan of Ohio State, Cleveland, and Arizona sports teams. Golfing, yachting, and spending time with family and friends were just a few of the activities John enjoyed during his  life. He also had his Lear Jet pilot’s license.

He is preceded in death by parents Offie and Rose, and brothers Larry and George.

He is survived by his children John II, Laurel, Joey, Tom (Petra); and grandchildren Austin, Danielle, Alexandra, Vincent, Trenton, Ella; brother Michael; and sister Teresa.

Calling hours are Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 4pm-8pm, at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333. Trisagion Service will take place at 7:00 PM. September 7th at 10am calling hours will resume at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 3204 Ridgewood Rd. Fairlawn, OH 44333. The funeral service will follow at 11am. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
